Thursday was spent working on the WITS interface. I was getting data read in and by the end of the day was populating a database. However there were problems along the way, including missing data channels, and trying to restart at the same point the import was finished in a previous run. Numerous calls were made to Han to sort these out.
On Friday I finally had a call from Brandon. Since he is teaching a course its hard ton get hold of him. I explained that although a lot of the pieces for the new feature were pretty much under control, they hadn't been put together into a complete package. I was also worried about testing when I was on the otter side of the world and also exactly the opposite times zone. In addition, while I'm here I can get in around 8 hours a day on their project but at home with all the distractions it would be a lot less. The upshot was we have decide that I will stay an extra week, leaving next Saturday on the equivalent flights. Of course this meant I had to change flights, hotel bookings, extend car rental insurance and accommodation, but I think most of that is done. I also had to let people in Australia know I'm not back for another week. I'll miss another game of hockey and a golf tournament.
The wits html interface had not been supplied and Richard followed up on that. Apparently Sam had got something together but is on leave so it never made it to me. Originally I decide with only 1 day left I couldn't afford to visit the Schlumberger offices again, but after the change in plans headed down after lunch. I've done this trip a few times now and almots don't need the GPS any more. I didn't botehr using it to come home. After 6 1/2 hours of work with Bruce and Cesar we seem to have an interface library that is at least working with Bruce's test program in VB, so I hope I can duplicate the results in Delphi. My attempts to interface with earlier version of the library were unsuccessful.
It was nearly 8 when I left so my earlier fears of getting caught in the rush hour traffic were unfounded. I got some more petrol since I'd done a good job of getting the tank nearly empty before the expected return on Saturday. I also stopped at Pappasito's for dinner. This was the same restaurant where I had my first meal ever in the US. The food was delicious again and very filling. Ideally you spread this sort of meal out over an hour or more in conversations and so forth, but on your own, all you really do is eat your meal.I have had a few phone calls with Ebi and Craig who are in Waco for Ebi's daughters graduation tonight. Since I'm not leaving I don't need to play as early as I thought.
